ABOUT ME

Greetings! My name is Coby Sevdy. I have been a huge fan of Sonic the Hedgehog since 1993 when I received a SEGA Game Gear with SONIC THE HEDGEHOG 2 for my 9th birthday. The Game Gear title SONIC CHAOS was the very first video game I ever beat, and I've played most of the Sonic games since.

When did you start collecting Sonic comics? In June 1994, I learned there was a Sonic comic when I saw Archie Comic's Sonic the Hedgehog #14 sitting on a magazine rack. I've been diligently collecting the comics ever since. I own every single Sonic comic released by Archie Comics, and so far I have a complete inventory of Sonic comics from IDW. Unfortunately, I haven't collected any Sonic the Comic magazines from Fleetway. Maybe one day...

What do you do? I retired from the U.S. Air Force on 30 Jun 2022. I was a Technical Sergeant, working as a Cyber Systems Operator. Basically, I was an IT guy, fixing computers while serving my country. I am enjoying retired life now, but may be looking for more IT work in the future.

I am not a web designer, so I apologize for the simplicity of this website. It's all coded by hand in basic HTML. I've tried GUI editors and website builder templates, but none of them allow me the flexibility to display every comic side-by-side in an adjustable grid. Maybe one day I'll take a course in web design and improve this site. I would like to create a mobile version, since the current site doesn't work well on mobile devices. Also, there is info on each comic if you hover your mouse over them, but you can't see that on mobile devices.

Why did you create this website? I'm a completionist who suffers from ADHD (the hyperfocus type). Which is how I can spend hours hand-jamming HTML code for my website. In the past, I spent countless hours building Excel spreadsheets, listing every Sonic comic in their reading order, but I wanted a quick-reference visual guide to my entire collection that I could access from anywhere in the world. A website seemed like the perfect place for it, and I wasn't really using my personal website for anything important.

Will you ever host actual comics? I have a (near) complete collection of digital comics for all three Sonic series. However, I don't want to get my website banned or shut down for filesharing, so I will not be hosting any comics at this time. There are other places you can go to find digital comics online, and I highly recommend supporting IDW and buying their physical and digital comics.

Why does it take so long to update things? I am only one man, working on this site as a hobby (read: whenever I get the free time and motivation) so I apologize for anything I haven't finished updating. Hand-jamming code for all these images is a lot of hard work! Fortunately, IDW is pretty good about posting comic news on their Facebook page, so I'm usually able to get updates posted within a day or two of their announcement.

Do you take breaks from updating your site? I normally try to keep things as current as possible, but every now and then, life gets in the way. I just retired, so I have oodles of time to work on this site. If I'm taking too long to update something, give me a poke.

Do you have any projects planned for this website? I am still moving the Archie Comics images over to my locally-hosted website, which will probably take me another few years of picking at it in my spare time. Don't worry, though; nothing will go down while I'm moving images, so you won't notice anything different.

I am considering adding some other popular fan comic series, like Sonic Legacy or some such. So far, the only fan comics I show are unofficial continuations of the Archie and Fleetway comics. But if I get enough positive feedback, I might add more comic pages.

I also wouldn't be opposed to making a gallery of fan-made comic covers.

If you want your fan-made comic covers displayed, let me know and I'll make a page for them.

Message me through Reddit, Facebook, or Discord with any other questions.
Thanks for your interest in my site!
